shopping is the one thing i cant seem to control, and shoes are my ultimate weakness. the great singapore sale just started, and already, i can feel my pockets getting lighter and lighter. and its only been 2 days. but having said that, im ecstatic with my newest buy from the recent club 21 sale! i got myself a pair of tsumori chisatos and cant wait to have them on my feet and out the door :)

ive never really heard of her (till i got my shoes), but it didnt really matter at that time cos they had my name stamped, no engraved, chiseled, and i just had to, had to get them. i got them for quite a steal too, at only SGD170, when it used to retail for about SGD900 or so. i wouldve been over the moon if they had brought in dries van noten's wedged oxfords, but thank god they didnt, cos that wouldve burned a bigger hole :/

i got myself the tan (cos that was the only one available), but im really liking the other colours they come in!

sigh sigh sigh. time to stop shopping now. within a span of 2 days, ive already spent SGD300 on shoes (yes i bght 2 other pairs), and some more on a pair of pants, a shirt, and.... yoga wear!

despite having started my exercising phase, i havent seem to be losing any weight. in fact, it feels like ive been gaining much more. maybe i should really just stop eating altogether :/

why is it harder to fall asleep when youre extremely tired?

like right now.

Many people have had the unpleasant experience of being unable to sleep despite total exhaustion. If you are overtired, falling asleep or staying that way can be paradoxically difficult for many reasons. Stress, lack of proper nutrition and not taking good care of your body can all affect your sleeping patterns, especially when you are overtired.

It is important to understand why you are so tired to begin with. If you are going through a stressful time at work or in your life, your exhausted brain may seem unable to shut down and let you sleep. Being overtired as a result of stress is common, if you are experiencing emotional or mental trauma, you may temporarily lose the control to relax.

Fatigue can also lead to an inability to sleep because you are trying too hard. If you have ever experienced a night where you lay awake thinking “I must go to sleep why can’t I sleep?” then you may be maintaining consciousness through your efforts to force yourself into sleep. This may also be related to anxiety over not getting enough sleep, knowing that you must get up in a few hours and need all the sleep you can manage.

In some situations where you are overtired, you are likely to have neglected to properly take care of your body. Even though you may not feel hungry or thirsty, lack of good, healthy food or sufficient hydration can be enough to keep you awake. If you are in a busy or stressful period, try to make sure you get a healthy dinner at the very least, and make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Stress on the body can lead to stress on the mind, which may in turn prevent you from sleeping when you most need it.

Many people who are overtired try to make up for it during the day by drinking caffeinated beverages such as coffee. While this may get you through the day, it can actually be counterproductive as it can lose you another night of rest and leave you even more exhausted the next day. If you are overtired, try to stop drinking caffeine by the early afternoon, to make sure it will be out of your system by bedtime. Drink water or low-sugar, cold beverages to wake yourself up, if necessary.

Fatigue can also lead you to neglect good exercise habits. You can certainly get exhausted sitting at a computer all day, but this isn’t the same as fatigue caused by physical exertion. If your body is not maintaining an adequate rate of physical activity, it may not feel the need to shut down and rest even though you would very much like it to. Even if you are overtired, try taking a thirty minute walk after work or when you have time. Be sure not to do highly aerobic activity just before bedtime, however, as it can be counterproductive.

To help you sleep when you are overtired, give yourself time for focused relaxation before bedtime. Instead of flopping down with the television, try reading an old favorite book, doing some light yoga or meditation, or taking a long bath. Help set up your bedroom to be a sleep-inducing location by keeping it clean, uncluttered, and peaceful. Dairy products like milk are high in tryptofan, which can help make you sleepy. Making a cup of warm milk with a bit of cinnamon a nightly habit can be a great way to get calcium and help you fall asleep.

we caught 'ploy' (in case youre trying to read it in thai) after our labourer's picnic, only because we heard wolverine sucked (and im personally not a fan of such shows), and had nothing else to watch. and boy, did this suck even more. even if wolverine did suck, im sure it wldve been a better sucker than bloody ploy. im not even gonna bother explaining the show because there really isn't anything to say about it. the only thing about the movie that stayed in my head was adeline hiccupping beside me and her sudden bursts of laughter every 10 mins.

i cant sleep right now because of the fucking ticking clock in my now somewhat emptier room. same thing happened to me last night too, i had to plug my earphones in and fall asleep with music in my ears (which i really dont wish to practise). ive been stuck at home for the last 4 days and i finally made it out of the house today with thanks to perks and sleng. my maid has been shitting with my patience all week and i really needed to get out of the house before i start screaming at her. im not gonna paragraph this entry because i feel like posting a whole chunk of words so that in any case if i do speak wrongly of anyone, it is unlikely that he/she will be bothered to read this whole paragraph in the first place anyway. if any of you do get this far, then well, maybe you might wanna stop because there really isnt gonna be anything much after this full stop > . so i was watching the sisterhood of the traveling pants earlier (was an ok show so no need to comment) and serena vdw was acting as one of the leads. no, there was no point in that sentence, and no i do not know her real name and am too lazy to google it. ive already watched episode 20 of gossip girl and i find myself going back every night with hopes of seeing a 21. i have an empty room to fill, a clock to trash (like right now), selchupsmumbrother's presents to get, and an overdued letter to write. in 4 hours, i have to wake up for yoga. so im gonna go plug those earphones in again right now. say hi if you got this far.

ive gone all white on both my flooring and ceiling. i find it an easy base colour to work with especially if you intend to have colour accents around. im waiting to go up to thailand so i can get some of my art framed. since tomorrow is a public holiday, im thinking of buying some paint and reworking some of the furniture i have for my room! lets hope i dont change my mind in the morning :/

ok, i know this is post is waaaaayyyy overdued, but 2008 has come and gone, and we are now 3 good months into 2009. ive heard many people say that 2009 will be a good year, but seems like the current economic situation is making most of them choke back on their words. times are bad, and im more than thankful to god (and my boss :/) that i still do have a job. ive been fortunate to have been, and still am, able to travel and see the magnifico! wonders of nature and the world. being stuck in a fast-paced environment leaves no room for air, so the short getaways really do help at times. most times.

i know singapore has her own beauty, but living here, you tend to let these pass you day by day without even noticing them. i prefer it that way anyway. its ok that i ignore my own country's beauty, so that when i do go on a holiday, it'll actually feel like a holiday.

anyway, random, but here are my favourite sunsets of 2008. im gonna keep a list starting from now for 2009!

i think my favourite sunset till date would probably be the first one i saw in koh lanta. yes, i have a favourite sunset, only because the sun sets every single day, and its only fair that i get to pick my favourite :)

it could be that im cheating by just mentioning the places that ive been to for my recent holidays, but thats about as much as i can remember of my memorable sunsets.

ive been thinking about getting a pair of sneakers, running shoes to be exact, just so i have a pair around to wear when i finally decide to go for a run. after getting the boost up from thailand, ive decided to start exercising, just to stay healthy, and of course lose some or a lot of weight preferably. then i realised that i dont actually own a pair of shoes that i could actually run or jog or even brisk walk in. the closest pair of shoes i have to comfortable walking are ballet flats :/ so anyway, moments ago, i came across this, and i think theyre a great motivation for running because track shoes are just so plain fuckin ugly.

i feel like ive gone on a long break. its only been slightly less than 2 weeks, but this space seems a little too unfamiliar for my liking.

im back from Japan, if anyones wondering. it was, different from what i expected. and i came home without achieving what i went there for. i saw some things great, but i knew there were more hiding. if i could describe my experience with one word, it would probably be; incomplete.

the current news stands say, change is good. but what if all of me gets lost with it?

i have 2 days left of my usual routine, after which, i haven't quite pictured what's gonna happen, what im gonna do, what im not gonna do, what im gonna try to do, what i shouldn't even try to do. i have a few options laid out in front of me, but having options doesnt make things easier.

i figured coming out with a list and weighing the pros&cons would be a practical start, but i cant seem to find the space for that that small kick in the butt. the whole process is endearing, and i believe more can be done with a nourished mind, and not that stale thing thats in my head.

contradictory to what my name actually means; nadi : heartbeat, i feel myself being driven down lower to my grave as each day passes. i guess having dreams (or in my case, options) is not as important as having guidance and support. i know there are people out there always watching my back, and i am thankful.

i know the problem lies in me. because im indecisive like that. its different when it a generic matter like say, shopping. you get what you like. 'should i buy this?' is really a rhetorical question if you ask me. but when someone points a gun at you, and leaves flowers at your grave, you really start to wonder if this all made sense in the first place.

im a walking midget emotionally (and sadly physically too), and i cant seem to find the height to stand myself up straight.

i have family and friends that are constantly around, we bicker we fight, we lose them, but they always manage to find their way back.

but, what if if i lose myself, will i find my way back?

todays gotta be one of the bestest day ive had in weeks. no months maybe. i woke up to the rain, and realised, for the first time in a long while, that hey, its raining, and i dont have to wake up! so i went back to bed, and woke up hours later, only to go for my hour and a half massage, which by the way, was prob the worst massage ive ever had, but now i feel fantastic :)

my box of peranakan treasures came, and im so so glad i took all of them.

aa had a garage sale last weekend which tired me out toally. i slept for 14 hrs straight, and woke up with swollen eyes. ok so it could be from too much sleep, but it could also have been from the insect repellent i accidentally sprayed into my eyes.

i have no more words to describe how lazy my colleague is. my manager happens to be on sick leave today, and he's obviously the happiest being in the office. i can sit beside him, walk around, go out to the bank, come back, click clock click clock with my shoes, and still find him in the same sleeping position. its the same thing before and after lunch.

nat got me thinking a little. firstly, i cant possibly throw a party to mark my last day of work, mainly because well monetarily, its not practical that i throw a party when im officially jobless and still need money for my upcoming trips. secondly, im too busy surfing the net at work and chatting with who and who that i really dont have the time to actually organize a party. and yah, i dont really feel like organizing a party for myself.

ive been looking around (the web) for customized wallpaper services here, but seems like singaporeans aren't too hot about using wallpaper. i know i could probably just send in my artwork to the printers and blow it up mural size, but to have it leaving on the wall, im sure colours will start fading, etc etc etc. so best would be to actually wallpaper my stuff so that i know its really meant for wall use. i came across some sites overseas, but whoa does it cost a lot. guess i'll prob wait till the thime comes to really start searching.

oh hi, i had a fantastic weekend :) from great great thai food, to charades, to barbeque, to late night ghost stories, to stayovers, to having bryani with a chef, to shopping shopping shopping and buying great a coat at only $90(!), to having last minute ice cream, and to falling sick all over again. my late weekend nights are not helping, but theyre good fun and i like that they keep me busy.

our dreamer finally came, and now i need more reasons to go out!

i bought this specially for japan. i wanna snap fuji-san with it. thank god it came on time.

next saturday marks my last day of work, and looking at the calendar, its just one weekend away :) i can start counting down from 10 tomorrow! and then +5 for japan! i heard its already a chilly 13 degrees now :/ i really hope i fully fully recover so i can go headbanging and not have to worry about anything there.

the Pinang Peranakan Mansion boasts the typical home of a Rich Baba a century back with a glimpse of their opulent lifestyle, and their many customs and traditions. With a commendable display of antiques and collectibles from back in the era, its one of the must-go places when visiting Penang. I have yet to step foot, but ive read that they hold private functions, and i think i would hold my birthday party there if i had the money.

i find peranakan ware really charming. ive always been amazed by my boss' collection of peranakan ware and jewellery. with delicate features and outbursts of colours, i can stare at them over and over again. i did a project on peranakan tiles once, and thats when i totally fell in love with the visual appeal. i have since collected a few pieces in my mind which i have been meaning to get. maybe when i finally get to do up my room then i'll have more reason to get them.

at least theres a few things to look forward to this coming month!

work starts at 10, but im usually in by 9.30 most of the week. i like my morning time alone to do stupid things like put on eyeliner, remove nail polish, facebook, blog, read stupid horoscope sites (which i admit to being addicted to), read whats left of the book im reading, eat breakfast slowly, listen to the repeated songs on my itunes, etc etc.

so anyway my horoscope for the month of october was;

ive been looking around at decor and stuff for my room, so that im ready and prepared to propose to my dad, with exactly what i want, and most importantly, how much.

so many things to do, so little space! i dont know how im gonna partition my room so that i can have a walk-in wardrobe, a comfortable workspace, and a lounge area. as it is, i have lots of rubbish which ive kept over the years which could be used for decorating. ive also got prints and art that i intend to frame. i have so many ideas on what i want to do to my walls that i dont think i'll be able to do. but i definitely want a bedhead like the one in the moodboard. and i definitely want a wall of frames. im quite decided on my colour scheme, so now i just have to work around furniture, knick-knacks, rugs, mirrors and possibly screens.

i find facebook really quite entertaining. unexpectedly found someone whom im looking foward to have as a friend on facebook just so i can kpo. the best thing about these online networks; you dont have to run away, and you can hide right behind your screen, and still not have to face the person.

i finally decided and got a chance to get out of the mall for lunch, so i met nat and had our long awaited shimbashi soba at paragon. after reading up on all the reviews, we pretty much knew what we were getting ourselves into; some very good soba.

so nat had the seiro tempura while i had the lunch set, which included sides of salmon sashimi, soft shell crab, teriyaki chicken, and a slice of watermelon. both of us had our soba chilled, which is probably the best way to have your soba. we got a little tip from their placemats on the art of eating soba, so nat did a little demonstration when the food arrived.

here we go,

first to take in the aroma of the buckwheat,

a taste of a string of noodle to appreciate the actual buckwheat taste from the soba

pour the dipping sauce into the choko

have a taste of the sauce

add in your preferred amount of spring onions and wasabi (optional)

pick up a mouthful size of noodles

dip dip dip

eat

and slurp as loud as you can :)

since theyve stopped production of polaroids, the clever poeple of flickr has since developed an easier way to get your polaroids! great for online usage like facebook and blogs :p heh.

im quite impressed by the finish quality. theyre quite close to actual polaroids, but of course you dont get the physical fun and anticipation that goes along with it. oh wait, anticipation maybe yes, even on your com, it shows the developing process!

only for mac users now, but they should have one for windows users coming up soon.

but i gotta admit though, mistakes make using polaroids more fun. result usually comes out much more interesting than what we'd expect. this one above would prob be one of those better quality ones we'd expect. but im not comaplaining anyway, i still like it :)
